I am a freelance writer based in the Hudson Valley. I have a background in, and have written about, a wide range of topics related to urban planning, public policy, and history. I grew fascinated by the variety and complexity of American alcohol laws during a decade of splitting my time between the bar and brewery business and degrees in history and public policy. Discovering that there is surprisingly little substantive writing on the history and evolution of American alcohol law (with the exception of Prohibition), I started this site in 2018, shortly after finishing a graduate program at Cornell.
